Hey Steve,
What is the dead animal in front of the fountain in the Chronometree cover art? What is it supposed to mean?

That's a dead animal? I need to get my eyes checked, I can't at all make out what that is. As for its meaning, I would imagine it does not mean much, considering the tongue-in-cheek manor of the album story. Looks cool though...
And now for something completly different...

I don't remember what it is exactly. But the artist stuck it in there and I never noticed it until some time went by. I'd rather it be a hand than a dead animal though. I wonder why?

I think it ties in with the whole wannabe pirate thing you have going on there, Steve. A missing hand reminds you of Hook. That's what your subconscious must be thinking. I bet there will be mention of a parrot on the next album... "Quoth the parrot: Evermore". It would fit right in with the rest of your lyrics.
Personally, I kinda like the dead animal.

To me that thing was always just a rock. Or maybe a piece of driftwood, but probably a rock. It does have sparkly stuff coming out though, so who knows?

Cree-py.
I've got the album art as my desktop (hope I'm not breaking any copyright rules) and my roommate and I were looking at it.
We both think it's a dead mouse and the little lights is its soul departing.
Steve!!! Shame on you, not knowing what's on your own album! You're supposed to know everything!!!!
I really hope it's not a severed hand.

This topic was a Monty Python quote waiting to happen! Now you got me thinking of the dead parrot sketch.
