What's your favorite Middle Earth Album song?

This page had no posts so I felt bad for it.
What is your favorite Middle Earth Album song?
(There were to many songs to let me actually post every single song so I had to group some together...)
I really really can't tell what my favorite song is... At first it was a tie - Elrenn and Endereth vs. Sweet Goldberry, but now I'm more torn between The Last Ship and Mithrandir and As I Walk (not that E & E is out of the picture). I'm thinking it's the Last Ship. I really like that song. You can seriously hear the rain on the crashing waves, and see the tears shed at a long delayed parting... And I believe what they say on the website about managing somehow to record the singing of elves in that mix...

That much said, Elrenn and Endereth has some of my favorite lyrics ever - it sounds so much like Tolkien! Mithrandir is just one of my old favorites. I was dissapointed they cut out the recorder part, but I'm managing to live anyway. And Sweet Goldberry is such a cool song - who would have thought that you could turn Tom Bombadil into progressive rock? And yet it really works, somehow.

As I Walk is really great too... I LOVE singing that song... Playing recorder isn't as fun, especially since some of those intervals are kind of nasty for fingering, but I love the vocalist... Felicia Sorensen, is it? Her voice is so beautiful.

OK, I voted but I haven't written anything about this album... Well, it was a bit of a surprise when I first heard it. I expected something like JOTD. I took my LOTR book (the first one) and I started to read: I was as if I was there with the characters! I like the acoustic sound of this album. The crowd in the first part has to be there, really! I REALLY love the song "As I Walk". What a voice! Every thing sounds perfect. I love the melody. I though I preferred male voices. Not on that one

You know what would be really cool? Glass Hammer visits Arda in the ages before that huge battle of Morgoth vs. Ainur messed up the earth. Glass Hammer in Numenor, Glass Hammer in Doriath, Glass Hammer in Angband (lol! no, don't go there!), Glass Hammer in Gondolin. Wouldn't that be interesting? Something tells me that Fred's little minidisc player isn't quite enough to record that kind of elven magic though. I just think it would be really interesting. Something like the Tolkien ensemble's rendering of some of those songs in LotR.

This is slightly off topic, but has anyone else ever heard the Evening/Night in Rivendell CDs by the Tolkien Ensemble? If you think "As I Walk" is pretty... Wow... You should hear the soprano who sings Goldberry. Man, if I was only an evil octupus named Ursula... (I want her voice!!!!) !! I don't like any of the male vocalists though - too operatic. I just don't think elves would sound like opera singers. You know what I mean? Their voices would be clear and fair, not... deep, difficult to understand, and loud and overpowering. (Not that I have anything against opera.)

Anyway, as a fan of the Sil, that's what's been on my mind since Steve said GH was writing more Middle Earth songs. (:-D:):-D)

Definately "The Last Ship". It's just magical.

Imagine what dreams may come when falling asleep to that song.

I may try that tonight. I'll put it on repeat, in fact.

I sometimes wonder if GH are from another star system, because this music sounds like prog rock from the Pleiades.

Next to Anathema and Dream Theater, this band is a primary influence to my own project.

I am a keyboardist heavily influenced by Kevin Moore (ex-DT), and now the brilliance of Fred Schendel.

Any prog junkies in the Houston area (haha, who am I kidding?) looking to jam, let me know.

We are in fact, from somewhere nearly as remote as the Pleiades - at least culturally speaking. We're from Chattanooga, TN. We are home to Tennessee's largest mall and Tennessee's largest aquarium. Oh yes, Rock City and Ruby Falls too.

However, Elves do pass this way from time to time.

My favorite is "The King's Beer". Very acoustic yet still kinda symphonic. Hilarious lyrics, very "working class."

Yes, I like that one too. The only thing that kind of bothers me is how there is no concept of time... The King marches to the Moranon Gate, and somehow on that day Butterbur knows and makes good beer, and then later that night the King comes way up to Bree all of a sudden. I am so literal, I know. It's horrible, yes... but still. Just being too observant as usual. I do like it very much though.

Playing his album almost none stop for 3 weeks seems to be a sign this album is a truely Great Album. I dare to even compare this album to "Blind Guardian- Forgotten Tales" (that album is one of my top 5 album in my collection). Anyways, My Favorite Song on this album is "The Last Ship" mostly due to what the song's is about. (I hope that the screen is included in the last LOTR Movie)

If you drank enough of the ale - it wouldn't matter. The truth gets stretched in such situations! But I AM NOT encouraging teen consumption of ale!

Heh, just gave this album a listen for the first time- VERY nifty
and SOOOO not what I was expecting.

Different from Journey of the Dunaden, as far as each song is a story, instead of trying to create the whole tale with an album.

Golly- the crowd effect are just perfect for this, nice job Fred/Steve/everyone

I love that song THE LAST SHIP. That has to be the BEST ballad I've ever heard!
Play that when relaxing in the bath with lights out, and an aromatic candle lit. Wonderful!

I'm new on here, so "Hello" everyone; lets hope we can have some fun. My fave band is Yes (has been since 1976) But GH are now my second, and I've only listened to their music during the last 2or3 months. On my shopping list is the DVD lexLive. Whats that like?

The Middle Earth album is so cool, and the track Dwarf & Orc sounds just like Friday night in a pub up north!
